I began working on the Golden Shaman Series at a very difficult time in my life. I was grieving my mother’s death. I felt lost; wandering the Earth like an orphan. In a dream I saw a “family” of curious and fascinating creatures and healer beings coming to help me. Their message was at times mysterious and vague. Yet I felt they arrived to remind me of my spiritual strength, humor and power. As each image emerged, their shimmering presence comforted me in the face of pain and anguish. While creating each magical and supernatural figure I felt a sense of calm and peace. Art making has always been a healing practice for me.
